Nadir Resort

Paolo Demel

Architecture, Building and Structure Design Nadir Resort by Paolo Demel Nadir is a resort set within the Atacama Desert, designed as architecture that appears quarried from the terrain. Low rectilinear volumes sit tight to the rock, forming deep loggias, wind protected courts and shaded thresholds. Water is used as a cooling mirror, exterior basins reflect the canyon sky, while sunken pools occupy carved chambers. Interiors are shaped by stratified stone surfaces and oculus openings that admit controlled daylight, reducing glare and heat. A restrained palette of sand colored masonry, recessed lighting and minimal furnishings emphasizes shelter and expansive view.
